Easy ways to keep yourself healthy this Winter

Post image for Easy ways to keep yourself healthy this Winter

Everybody has their own way of keeping themselves healthy over the Winter.  I thought Eva (one of our lovely ex-battery ladies) had frostbite when we came back from our trip to see her looking like this. But no, those little white tubes around the top of her head are actually new feathers forming, prompted by a combination of very cold weather and a couple of weeks of less free-ranging and therefore more eating. I’m so pleased – she has been much more feathered than when we got her for a long time now but has always had a little bald spot around her comb.

For humans, new feathers just don’t seem to be an option so I wanted to point you towards this great article on the Huffington Post from dietitian Susan Dopart “Avoid the Common Cold With These 5 Easy Steps”.  It’s a good reminder that nutrition is just part of keeping your immune system on top form, alongside good quality sleep, maintaining a healthy gut and watching what you’re doing with your hands.

I’m thrilled to see Eva looking so good. She’s the poster hen for good nutrition and TLC.
Thank you for the link to the article. “Easy ways to…” are always welcome but especially at this time of year when we sometimes extend ourselves too far.
