Hi all,
Thanks for your chicken related questions. I will endeavour to include what we've learnt so far about these things in my blog post.
Elaine - of course I had to google to see if anybody had tried keeping hens on a balcony. Apparently it's not unheard of to keep a couple of bantams, though I suspect Piper the westie might have something to say :-)

Lovely autumnal photo...
I'm curious to know just how much time you spend each day tending to the chickens. I'd love to acquire a few someday, but am not sure how they would be when left to their own devices for 8 or so hours a day while I'm working...

Such a lovely photo to begin your post, Sophie. I love the soft, subdued colour.
Thanks for the autumn installment of your seasonal eating guide. I post the guide on my office door at work - it stimulates questions and discussions.
I'm looking forward to your chicken-keeping posts though I won't be able to have a hen on my balcony.

I'm definitely hoping to be a future chicken owner, although it won't be for a while. But I mainly wonder how much space they actually need - to be healthy and of course happy chickens?

How are the chickens treating your grass? I know they can dig up seedlings, but I'd like to know if they dig up the lawn.
